September's biggest updates center on the appointment lifecycle. Zoom visits now run inside Healthie, AI Charting handles encounter summaries and follow-up tasks once a note is locked, and two new dashboards show how no-shows and tasks are trending across the practice. Beyond those, the release includes improvements to prescribing, forms, tasks, and scheduling.  Read on for the highlights, or dive into the full September 2026 release notes for every update.

Embedded Zoom: join video visits without leaving Healthie

Switching between Healthie and a separate Zoom window is a small interruption that can add up over a full day of sessions. Zoom visits can now open directly inside Healthie, so providers and clients join with a single click from the browser. Patient context, notes, and tools stay visible throughout the session, and clients can join from the portal without installing or configuring the Zoom app.

Next Steps: Admins can set the default video experience to In Healthie or In Zoom App and switch on their own timeline. Existing Zoom URLs, appointment management, and notifications stay unchanged.

It's a simple change that makes telehealth easier to start, run, and document.

AI Charting: encounter summaries and follow-up tasks

AI Charting has expanded beyond being a scribe with two new features to handle post-session work.

AI Encounter Summaries generate a structured clinical summary from the AI Scribe transcript as soon as a charting note is locked, with up to six labeled bullets: reason for visit or progress, history, symptom review, key findings, current treatment, and plan. Summaries are editable inline, and every edit is attributed by provider name, date, and time.

AI Scribe Tasks turn the same transcript into follow-ups like referrals, lab orders, and prescription adjustments. They appear in your task list with a "Generated by AI" badge and work like any other task.

Both are now available to all AI Charting customers at no additional cost. Admins enable each feature with a member permission per provider.

Visualize: new no-show and task completion dashboards

Two new dashboards help administrators easily spot operational patterns before they turn into costly problems.

The dedicated No-Show Dashboard shows the no-show rate, total no-shows, and average no-show appointment price, which you can break down by appointment type, visit modality, client confirmation status, and provider. It's a practical way to see where confirmation workflows are working and how much missed appointments are costing your practice.

The Task Completion Dashboard shows open tasks, completion rate, average days to close, and overdue tasks, with per-provider bar charts and a full task detail table. This dashboard provides practical insights for catching workload imbalances and successfully managing your care team.

Additional updates

More updates from September worth knowing about:

  • E-Rx Multi-Clinic Support: Providers at multi-state organizations can now view and change a patient's DoseSpot clinic before prescribing, which reduces the risk of a prescription going out under the wrong clinic. Single-clinic organizations see no change.
  • Chart Notes on Mobile: Providers can view chart notes in the iOS and Android apps, including status, history, signatures, and addendums, with search, sort, and filters. This is view-only for now; creating and editing are planned for a future release.
  • Enhanced Diagnosis Code Searchability: ICD-10 code search in charting now handles typos and common clinical terms, so entering "ADDH" returns ADHD codes and searching "hyperactivity" surfaces attention-deficit codes. It applies to all customers using the Diagnosis Module.
  • Task Management Improvements: Create tasks directly from Quick Profile or Client Overview with the client pre-populated, and filter your task list by a specific creator.
  • Real-Time Translated Captions for Zoom: Providers on Plus, Group, and Enterprise plans can offer live captions in 36 languages, with each patient choosing their own. This is an optional add-on; email hello@gethealthie.com to learn more.

API Updates

All of this month's features are also available via the API, and we're continuing to invest in documentation, SDKs, webhooks, and more in the coming months.

Complexity Limits for Zoom Fields in Appointment Queries

Since September 1, appointment search queries that include Zoom-related fields and span long date ranges carry a higher complexity score, and requests over the threshold return a complexity-limit error. The threshold tightens on October 1 (12+ months) and November 1 (6+ months, final). If your integration requests Zoom fields, break long-range queries into monthly or quarterly windows and paginate.

Blog: The Hidden Cost of Your EHR: Why Paying More Might Cost You Less

It's tempting to compare EHRs by their monthly subscription cost, but that number rarely shows what the software costs in staff time, billing work, and admin overhead. This month's blog breaks down which private practice costs are fixed and which the right technology can reduce. It also includes a calculator so you can run your own numbers.

The biggest updates this month share one idea: a platform that keeps the work in one place and moves with you. That means fewer windows to juggle, fewer follow-ups left behind, and fewer blind spots in your schedule. It's what we're building toward, and September closes out another quarter of steady progress in that direction.
