Product Spotlight: AI Encounter Summaries
AI Encounter Summaries automatically generates a structured clinical summary the moment you lock a charting note. Included with AI Charting at no additional cost.
If you've been using AI Scribe, you already know what it's like to finish a session and have a complete chart note draft waiting for you. You stayed present during the visit. The note got done. Documentation stopped being the last thing on your to-do list.
AI Encounter Summaries takes the next step. Once you convert and lock that note, a structured clinical summary generates automatically from the session transcript — no extra steps, no additional recording time, nothing else to do. It's already there.
Documentation has two parts. AI Charting handles both.
Most AI documentation tools stop at the chart note. They capture what was said, organize it into your preferred template, and hand it back to you to review and lock. That's a meaningful time savings, and AI Scribe delivers it across telehealth, in-person, and phone sessions.
However there's a second layer of documentation work that happens after the note is locked. Providers, especially those in busy private practices or large group settings, regularly need a concise clinical picture of what happened in a visit: the key findings, the decisions made, and the plan going forward. That picture lives somewhere inside the note, but getting to it means re-reading it.
AI Encounter Summaries generates that picture automatically. It reads from the same transcript AI Scribe already captured and produces a concise, structured summary the moment the note is locked.
Structured the way clinicians actually think
Each Encounter Summary contains up to six labeled clinical bullets:
- Reason for Visit or Progress: The lead bullet adapts by visit type. Therefore the initial visits capture the chief complaint, who was present, symptom duration, and severity. Follow-up visits lead with the most clinically significant change since the last appointment: symptom trajectory, treatment response, adherence, or new concerns.
- History: Relevant background informing the current encounter.
- Symptom Review: Patient-reported symptoms discussed during the visit.
- Key Findings: Clinical observations, labs, and notable findings.
- Current Treatment: Active medications and ongoing interventions.
- Plan: Clinical decisions, next steps, and follow-up interval.
Categories not covered during the session are skipped automatically. The summary reflects what actually happened in the visit, nothing more, nothing less.

Built into the workflow, not added on top of it
AI Charting has always been native to Healthie, not a bolt-on integration, not a separate login, not a browser extension. AI Scribe captures and processes session audio within Healthie's HIPAA-compliant platform, with draft notes living inside the corresponding appointment. Nothing leaves the platform.
AI Encounter Summaries works the same way. There's no new tool to configure and no change to how sessions are recorded. The summary generates from the transcript that already exists. If your team is using AI Scribe, Encounter Summaries work automatically once the permission is enabled.
That matters because documentation friction compounds. Every hand-off between tools, every manual export, every re-entry of clinical data is time spent not seeing patients. When documentation workflows are native to the EHR, that friction disappears, and so does the cognitive overhead of managing it.
The clinician stays in control
AI Encounter Summaries are editable inline. Any edits are attributed with the provider's name, date, and time. The "Generated by AI" label stays visible regardless so the origin of the content is always clear, and clinical judgment always has the final word.
For group practices and multi-provider organizations, access is controlled at the provider level. Administrators can enable "Can generate encounter summaries" per provider, making it easy to roll out incrementally or across the full team.
Less time reconstructing sessions, more time with patients
Private practice providers often wear every hat in the business. Documentation time isn't just a clinical burden, it's time away from clients, from growing the business, and from the parts of practice that drew you to this work.
AI Encounter Summaries doesn't replace clinical thinking. It handles the part that doesn't require it: turning a completed session into a structured, referenceable summary. Whether you're reviewing a patient before the next visit, passing context to a colleague, or keeping your records consistent across a growing caseload, that summary is already waiting.
AI Scribe handles the note. AI Encounter Summaries handles what comes next.
