Product Spotlight: Tasks - Now with Built-In Commenting
Explore Healthie's Tasks feature, and the new Task Commenting update that provides a built-in way to add notes, context, and updates directly within any task
Running a clinical practice means keeping a lot of balls in the air: client follow-ups, chart notes, insurance coordination, onboarding tasks, and everything in between. When your to-do list lives across sticky notes, email threads, and memory alone, things fall through the cracks.
That's exactly what Tasks was built to prevent. And with our latest enhancement, Task Commenting, this feature just became an even more powerful hub for keeping every task fully in context.
📝 Meet Tasks: Your Personal Built-In To-Do List
If you haven't fully explored Tasks yet, now is the perfect time. Tasks is your own personal structured, built-in to-do list. Tasks help providers, admins, and support staff stay organized, delegate work, and track important actions across both client care and daily operations.
Here's what you can do with Tasks today:
Create tasks in seconds. Click + Create Task from your Healthie Dashboard, add a description, set a due date, flag it as high priority, and attach a reminder - all in one place.
Assign to teammates. Delegate to one or more team members, who automatically receive an email notification and in-app alert so nothing gets missed. Useful for clinical follow-up and operational handoffs alike.
Link tasks to clients. Tag a client to associate a task directly with their profile, making it easy to track pre- and post-session follow-up (e.g. sending a message, reviewing chart notes, or updating a treatment plan). These appear in the client profile sidebar and Quick Profile, keeping client-specific tasks top of mind.
Manage everything from one dashboard. The Tasks Dashboard gives you a centralized workspace to sort by due date or priority, filter by team member or client, bulk mark tasks complete, and track progress in real time. Members with the "Can view all org members' tasks" permission can view and manage tasks across the entire organization from a single view.
Set reminders so nothing slips. Choose to receive email reminders 2 days before, 1 day before, or on the due date sent at 8 AM local time. If a task is assigned to a team member, they receive the reminder instead.
💬 What's New: Task Commenting
Here's the challenge even the best task management systems run into: tasks aren’t static. Questions come up. Context evolves. Status updates need to be recorded. And until now, all of that had to happen outside the task by memory, on a Post-it or in an external tool.
Task Commenting changes that.
With this new enhancement, your team now has a built-in space to take notes and provide context directly within each task. No more tab-switching, no more lost context, no more "wait, where did I write that down?"
Here's what's included:
- Comment on any task — Add plain-text comments to any task you have access to
- Know when comments were made — Every comment displays a timestamp, creating a clear chronological record.
- Edit with confidence — Edit your own comments at any time. An "(Edited)" indicator keeps the record transparent while the original timestamp remains unchanged.
- Admins stay in control — Organization administrators can delete any comment, supporting compliance and audit needs across the organization.
- See activity at a glance — A comment count indicator appears on task cards and rows across all task views: the Healthie Dashboard, Tasks Dashboard, Client Overview, and Quick Profile.
Commenting works wherever tasks work. Whether you're in the Tasks Dashboard, a client's profile sidebar, or a Quick Profile flyout, just click the comment bubble icon or select [...] > View Comments to open the comments panel, type your note, and hit Save.

We're planning to add customized notification support for Tasks so users are alerted when activity happens on tasks relevant to them. This will allow for improved visibility, and streamlined team collaboration on tasks. Subscribe to the portal card for updates on this future enhancement to Tasks.

If you're new to Tasks, start by clicking + Create Task from your Healthie Dashboard. Create your first task and link it to a client to see how quickly it becomes a central part of your daily workflow.
For Task Commenting, it's available now wherever you access tasks. Look for the comment bubble icon on any task card, or open the [...] menu > View Comments to start a conversation directly within the task.
