August 2026 Healthie Product Updates
August updates help private practices catch critical patient info, protect their schedule, and get a clearer read on appointment volume.
August updates focused on visibility and control. The through-line is day-to-day clarity: critical information that can't be missed, and the right access for the right people. These are the kinds of updates that don't change how you practice, they just reduce the friction between you and what you need to know. Read on for the highlights, or dive into the full August 2026 release notes for every update.
Care alerts: pin critical patient information
Many practices have a version of this problem: important patient context lives somewhere it won't reliably be seen. Sharing it through a chart note, a pre-session briefing, or a team huddle can work, but it's difficult to make dependable, especially across multiple clinicians. Care Alerts gives you a dedicated place to flag high-priority information directly on the client's record, visible every time you open their profile.
Alerts appear on both the Client Overview and Quick Profile, so they surface wherever you're working. You can add free-text notes, set an optional expiration date, and require an acknowledgment each time a profile with active alerts is opened. Every alert is logged with a timestamp, so there's always a clear record of what was flagged and when.
It's a small change that closes a meaningful gap in day-to-day clinical workflows.
Read-only calendar permissions
This update is ideal for clinicians who need their calendar visible to additional staff without granting them permission to change it. Healthie now supports four independent calendar permission controls, configurable per user role:
- Manage own availability windows
- Manage own calendar blocks
- Manage other providers' availability
- Manage other providers' calendar blocks
You can give someone view-only access to your schedule, let a coordinator manage blocks without touching availability, or keep your own availability locked while delegating everything else. The settings live in Organization Settings and take effect immediately.
Dashboard enhancements
Two dashboard updates this month make it easier to see what's happening across your schedule without extra digging.
The Appointments Dashboard now shows your top 20 providers by appointment volume (up from 10) and includes a new Full Provider Breakdown table with totals by appointment type. If your practice has grown to the point where the old top-10 view was cutting off relevant data, this fixes that. The Provider Utilization Dashboard now rounds availability and appointment hours to whole numbers for easier reading, while keeping the full decimal data available in the table if you need it.
Both updates are live now with no setup required.
Additional updates
A few more useful changes from August worth knowing about:
- Multi-Appointment-Type Availability: You can now assign multiple appointment types to a single availability block, so there's no need to create a separate record for each type. Updated calendar tiles show what's covered in each block at a glance.
- Sex on File with Insurance Sync: Healthie now automatically sends a patient's Sex on File with Insurance as the primary demographic to DoseSpot, Change Healthcare, and E-Labs Direct, with Gender as fallback. This reduces the chance of claim rejections or lab issues tied to sex-based criteria, and no workflow changes are needed on your end.
- Transcription Retention Policy for AI Scribe: If you're using AI Scribe, you can now configure how long transcripts are retained to match your practice's preferences.
- Add Availability Side Sheet Enhancements: The availability setup panel has been cleaned up with clearer labels, side-by-side date fields, a wider layout, and a consistent "Add availability" button to make recurring schedule setup faster and easier to get right.
- Session Timeout Notification: Healthie will now show a "Still there?" prompt before signing you out after 60 minutes of inactivity, so you're not caught off guard mid-session.

Dynamic Complexity Scaling for Appointment Search Queries (effective September 1, 2026)
Starting September 1, 2026, Healthie is introducing dynamic complexity scaling for appointment search queries. Blog: The Therapist's New Co-Pilot
Documentation pressure and session presence have always competed for the same attention. This month's blog looks at how AI Scribe tools are changing that dynamic for therapists, what the research says about why presence matters for treatment outcomes, and what to evaluate before adopting any tool. Worth a read if you're thinking about AI Scribe or already using it.

Every update this month comes back to the same idea: a platform that works with you, not around you. Fewer things to hunt for, fewer steps between you and your schedule, fewer moments where something important gets missed. That's what we're building toward, and August has been another step in that direction.
