Opt Health unlocked engineering efficiency and accelerated product innovation.

Opt Health reduces infrastructure burden and accelerates product innovation with Healthie’s API-first platform.

By adopting Healthie, Opt Health unlocked new operational efficiencies and reallocated engineering resources toward growth-focused initiatives.

With Healthie, Opt Health experience:

  • Six-figure cost savings: $100K–$250K in annual development expenses saved by shifting engineers away from maintaining core infrastructure to working on strategic product development.
  • Accelerated deployment: Faster rollout of critical tools like scheduling and eRx through Healthie’s API-first approach.
  • Enhanced product differentiation: Freed up resources to build proprietary features and elevate the patient experience

“Speed of development is the biggest ROI. Our engineering team can focus on innovation instead of building and maintaining foundational EHR features.” — Joe Getz, Head of Product at Opt Health

"Healthie stands apart for three reasons: the developer-first experience built for digital care models, the exceptional support throughout onboarding and beyond, and the continuous rollout of meaningful product improvements. From day one, the Healthie team has been committed to our success, providing the tooling, documentation, and direct engineering support we need to scale efficiently."

Challenge

Opt Health was quickly outgrowing their piecemeal platform

Opt Health’s limitations from their legacy EHR underscored the importance of adapting a modern, API-first solution.

As Opt Health scaled, the need for a modern, developer-friendly EHR platform became critical. “We were growing quickly, and managing provider schedules, availability, and patient workflows became increasingly difficult,” said Joe Getz, Head of Product at Opt Health. The company was relying partially on a legacy EHR solution that had an outdated API and made integration cumbersome, limiting their ability to innovate and meet user expectations.

To supplement their existing EHR, the team was stitching together third-party tools and developing core features in-house. While somewhat feasible, investing engineering resources into building fundamental clinical infrastructure, such as scheduling, charting, and intake forms wasn’t advancing Opt Health’s differentiated value. “We really needed an EHR that could handle back-office admin and was developer-first, with robust documentation,” Getz emphasized.

Solution

Opt Health choose Healthie to provide core functionality and to seamlessly integrate with proprietary technology

Opt quickly transitioned to Healthie’s core feature set to simplify provider and patient workflows and reduce back office administration.

Healthie’s API-first infrastructure gave Opt Health a streamlined way to integrate clinical and operational tools without diverting engineering resources. “Healthie’s API product allowed us to plug in critical features, including charting, scheduling, and intake forms, while staying focused on building our differentiated experience,” said Joe Getz, Head of Product at Opt Health.

The team was especially drawn to Healthie’s white-labeling, extensible documentation, and real-time data syncing capabilities. “We’re constantly pushing data back and forth between our platform and Healthie,” Getz noted. Currently, Opt is most heavily relying on scheduling, charting, forms and eRx, and as the company scales, they plan to expand use of Healthie’s chat and programs features. “We’re deepening our use of Healthie’s tools to focus on patient engagement and provide efficient care,” said Getz.
