Provider Notification Preferences
Customize which email and push notifications you receive as a provider, covering client activity like new messages, journal entries, or completed forms. Clients have a parallel, separate set of preferences they can adjust for their own email and push notifications. Certain transactional and account-related notifications are legally required and can't be turned off for either providers or clients.

The problem it solves
A one-size-fits-all notification setting means providers either miss activity they care about or get overwhelmed with alerts they don't need, and clients have no way to reduce non-essential notifications to their own preference. This lets each person, provider or client, tune their own notification experience independently.
What's included
- Per-provider email and push notification toggles for client activity types
- Separate 1:1 chat vs. Community Chat notification toggles for both providers and clients
- Separate, client-facing notification preference settings
- Provider-only control over appointment confirmation and reminder frequency
- Legally required transactional notifications that can't be disabled by either party
How it works
A provider adjusts their own notification preferences from their account settings, choosing which client activity types trigger an email, a push notification, both, or neither. For Chat specifically, providers can separately toggle notifications for new 1:1 messages versus new Community Chat messages, and choose push and/or email as the delivery format for each; disabling a chat notification still allows messages to be sent and received, it only stops the alert. Clients have a parallel settings page (Settings > Notifications > Chat on web or mobile) where they can adjust the same 1:1 versus Community Chat notification preferences for their own account, though they cannot change how often they receive appointment confirmations or reminders, since that frequency is set by the provider in Appointment Settings. Regardless of these preferences, certain transactional and account-related notifications are sent automatically and cannot be turned off, since they're considered legally required communications.
Provider Notification Preferences let each team member control which email and push notifications they personally receive about client activity, such as new chat messages, journal entries, program updates, and completed forms. It's built so that providers and staff aren't overwhelmed with every possible alert, and can tailor notifications to what's actually relevant to their role. Clients have their own, separate set of notification preferences for email and push alerts, adjustable from their own account settings, though appointment confirmation and reminder frequency can only be set by the provider, not the client. Some notifications, particularly transactional and account-related ones, are legally required and can't be disabled by either providers or clients.
