Opting in to Marketing Communications
Let clients explicitly opt in to receive marketing communications, like newsletters, general updates, and promotional offers, separate from the transactional emails required for their account. Consent can be captured through an intake form field or adjusted by the client themselves in their notification settings; providers cannot opt a client in on their behalf, to stay compliant with marketing regulations. Clients also set an SMS-or-email preference for how they'd like to receive these communications.

The problem it solves
Providers who want to market to their client base, with newsletters, promotions, or general updates, need documented, compliant consent before doing so, and can't simply assume clients want this on top of their required transactional emails. This solves that by giving clients an explicit, self-managed opt-in mechanism that keeps marketing consent clearly separate from account-required communications.
What's included
- Marketing communications opt-in, kept separate from required transactional emails
- Intake form field for capturing consent during onboarding
- Client self-service opt-in/opt-out from Notifications > Marketing settings, including on mobile
- Client-selected delivery preference (email or SMS) for marketing communications
- Provider restriction preventing opt-in on a client's behalf, to maintain compliance
How it works
A provider can add the "Opt in to receive updates and special offers" field from the Client Info Questions Bank to an intake form, so new clients set their marketing preference during onboarding. Existing clients can adjust this themselves at any time from Settings > Notifications > Marketing in their web or mobile account, choosing to opt in or out and selecting email or SMS as their preferred channel; if SMS is selected, the client confirms their mobile number. Providers cannot opt a client in themselves, since marketing consent must come directly from the client to remain compliant. If a client wants to fully unsubscribe from all Healthie-sent emails rather than just marketing messages, that currently requires reaching out to Healthie support directly.
Opting in to Marketing Communications lets a client explicitly consent to receive marketing-related messages, such as newsletters, practice updates, or promotional offers, kept distinct from the transactional emails tied to their account (appointment confirmations, receipts, and similar). It's built to keep providers compliant with federal and international marketing regulations, which require the client's own affirmative consent rather than a provider opting them in by default. Consent can be captured by adding an "Opt in to receive updates and special offers" field to an intake form, or a client can self-adjust their preference anytime from the Marketing section of their Notifications settings, including on the mobile app. Once opted in, a client also indicates whether they'd prefer these communications via email or SMS text.
