Add a Contact to a Client's Account

Add a contact, such as a family member or emergency contact, to a client's account to receive copies of their email notifications. A contact has no ability to log into the Healthie portal or view any of the client's documents, forms, or program materials. Optionally flag the contact as an emergency contact for quick reference on the client's profile.

The problem it solves

Providers often need to keep a family member informed about a client's appointments or billing without giving that person any access to the client's account or health information. Add a Contact solves this by letting a contact receive copies of the client's own notifications, with no ability to log in or view anything beyond what's in those emails.

What's included

  • Contact added directly to a client's account from Client Info > Family and Contacts
  • Optional email notification forwarding, mirroring whatever the client is set to receive
  • Emergency contact flag, surfaced as an indicator on the client's profile
  • No portal login or document/form access granted to the contact
  • Notification behavior that respects the client's own notification settings

How it works

A provider opens a client's profile, navigates to Actions > Client Info > Family and Contacts, and adds a contact's information. The provider can check a box to send that contact a copy of every email notification the client receives, such as appointment confirmations, reminders, or payment receipts, and can separately mark the contact as an emergency contact. The contact cannot log into the Healthie portal or view any of the client's documents, forms, or program materials; their access is limited entirely to receiving copies of the client's own notification emails.

Add a Contact lets providers attach a contact, such as a family member, to a client's account so that person can receive copies of the client's email notifications, without granting any login or portal access. It's built for practices that need a quick way to keep a family member informed, such as appointment confirmations or payment receipts, without the account-linking and access-granting steps used for caregivers who need direct account access. A contact can optionally be marked as an emergency contact, which surfaces an indicator on the client's profile for quick reference. Notifications sent to a contact mirror whatever the client themselves is set to receive, so if a client's payment notifications are disabled, the contact won't receive those either.
