Group Charting Notes
Write one shared note for a group session's overall content, plus individual per-client notes that save to each attendee's own chart — all from a single charting screen. A note only saves to a client's account once an individual note is added for them; the shared group content isn't recorded until then. Editing the group note later updates it across every attendee automatically.

The problem it solves
Documenting a group session in Healthie's standard 1:1 charting flow means either repeating the same session-level content across every attendee's chart or leaving group context out of individual notes entirely. Group Charting Notes solves this by separating shared session content from individual notes, so the group-level narrative is written once and individual updates are added per client.
What's included
- Dedicated Group Chart Note Template, distinct from standard 1:1 charting templates
- Shared group-level note content, plus individual notes per attendee
- Conditional save behavior, requiring at least one individual client note before anything saves
- Automatic sync of group note edits across all session attendees' charts
- Attendance-based ordering, surfacing attended clients above non-attended clients in the note
How it works
From a group appointment, a provider selects Create Charting Note and chooses a Group Chart Note Template from the drop-down. The provider completes the group-level portion of the note and adds individual notes for whichever clients need one; the note only saves to a client's account if an individual note was added for them. Once saved, the charting status on the appointment reflects that a note was created for each individual client, and clicking a client's name from the appointment details opens their version of the note. To edit later, a provider opens any attendee's charting note and selects Edit Group Note; changes to the group-level content automatically apply to every attendee's note when saved, while individual client notes remain private to that client's own account. If attendance was tracked before the note was created, clients marked attended appear at the top of the Individual Client Notes section with an "(Attended)" label.
Group Charting Notes let providers document a group appointment, such as a couples session, family session, or support group, with one note covering the session as a whole plus individual notes for each attendee. It's built for providers running group appointments who want to avoid writing the same session-level content into every client's chart separately. A charting note is only saved to a client's account once an individual note has been added for them; if no individual notes are added, no charting note is saved at all. Attendance tracking affects display order: clients marked as attended appear at the top of the Individual Client Notes section, with an "(Attended)" label, while those not marked as attended appear below.
