Client Settings (Global, Group, and Client-Level Customization)
Control which features and portal sections a client can see or use, configurable at three levels: a global default for the whole account, a per-Client-Group override, and a per-client override, with the more specific level always winning. Covers Client Portal navigation (like hiding Billing), journaling and metrics visibility, and the ability to block a client from self-booking appointments entirely. An active Care Plan on a client's account overrides any of these settings while it's applied.

The problem it solves
Different client populations, or even individual clients, often need a different subset of Healthie's features visible or usable, but a single account-wide setting can't accommodate that variation. This solves that by layering global, group, and individual-level overrides, so the right level of granularity is always available without configuring every client from scratch.
What's included
- Global, Group, and Client-level settings hierarchy, with more specific levels overriding broader ones
- Client Portal section visibility controls (billing, documents, journaling, and more)
- Journaling, metrics, and fitness logging visibility and requirement toggles
- Booking restriction, blocking a client from self-scheduling appointments through their portal
- Separate Direct Messaging and Community Chat participation toggles, preserving message history when disabled
- Engagement feature gating, useful for tiering access behind a subscription or package level
- Care Plan override, which supersedes Client Settings while an active Care Plan is applied
How it works
An admin sets global defaults from the account settings wheel, covering categories like Client Portal experience, journaling, metrics, and fitness logging; these apply to every client unless overridden. For a specific Client Group, the admin can adjust the same categories from that group's settings to apply different defaults to just that population. For an individual client, a provider navigates to Client Profile > Actions > Settings and unchecks or adjusts specific settings, including which Client Portal sections display, whether they can add free-text notes, and whether they can book appointments through their portal at all; unchecking booking access requires clients to be scheduled by staff instead. Chat access is controlled the same way, with separate "Allow Direct Messaging" and "Allow Community Chat participation" toggles; unchecking either lets a client keep access to their existing conversation history but blocks them from sending new messages of that type. If the client has an active Care Plan, that Care Plan's own settings take priority over any Client, Group, or Global setting for as long as it's applied.
Client Settings let providers control which parts of Healthie a client can see or use, set at three levels: a global default applied account-wide, a Client Group-level override, and an individual client-level override, with more specific settings always taking precedence over broader ones. It's built for practices that need different experiences for different client populations, such as hiding the Billing tab for a pediatric client's account, disabling self-booking for clients managed entirely by staff, or gating engagement features like journaling and metrics behind a higher-tier package. Settings span the Client Portal's visible sections (billing, documents, journaling, and more), food/metrics/fitness logging visibility, whether a client can add free-text notes, and whether they're able to book appointments at all through their portal. An active Care Plan assigned to a client overrides whatever Client Settings are otherwise configured, for as long as that Care Plan remains active.
