Client-Facing Appointment Name & Description

Give each appointment type a client-facing name and description that's separate from its internal name, so clients see clear, plain-language labels when choosing what to book. Useful for clarifying appointment length, who should book it, or what to expect, without changing the internal label staff use. Preview the full booking flow before sharing a link publicly.

The problem it solves

Internal appointment names are often written for staff, using shorthand or clinical terms that don't mean anything to a client trying to choose the right session to book. This solves that by letting practices show clients a separate, clearer name and description without having to rename the appointment type internally.

What's included

  • Separate client-facing name field per appointment type, distinct from the internal name
  • Client-facing description field shown during appointment selection
  • Automatic fallback to the internal name if no client-facing name is set
  • Consistent client-facing labeling across booking, calendar, and reminder emails
  • Live preview of the booking link to verify names, descriptions, and branding before sharing

How it works

An admin navigates to Settings > Self-Scheduling to see appointment types enabled for client booking, then clicks the pencil icon on an appointment type to open the edit modal. There, they set a client-facing name and description separate from the internal name; the client-facing name appears anywhere a client sees the appointment (booking flow, calendar, reminders), while the description appears specifically during appointment selection. After saving, the admin can generate the appointment's booking link and use Healthie's Preview option, or open the link in an incognito browser window, to confirm the client-facing name, description, and branding display correctly before sharing the link publicly.

Client-Facing Appointment Name & Description lets providers set a separate name and description for each appointment type that's shown only to clients, distinct from the internal name staff see. It's built for practices that want clients choosing between appointment types to see clear, plain-language labels and details rather than internal shorthand. If no client-facing name is set, clients see the internal name by default. Once configured, the client-facing name and description are used everywhere a client encounters the appointment, including booking, calendar view, and reminders, and can be previewed end-to-end before a booking link is shared publicly.
