Account Admins and Owners
Designate team members as Account Admins, who get the account's highest level of permissions, or identify the single Account Owner, a special role with exclusive control over billing, account closure, and account-level decisions. Only the Account Owner can update their own permissions, and other admins cannot modify or remove the Owner's access. Transferring ownership, such as when a business changes hands, requires proof of ownership and is handled directly by Healthie's support team.

The problem it solves
Organizations need a clear, protected line of accountability for account-level decisions like billing and closure, separate from the broader administrative permissions given to multiple team members. This solves that by reserving certain irreversible or sensitive actions exclusively for a single, verified Account Owner, while still allowing multiple Admins to handle day-to-day permission management.
What's included
- Account Admin designation, grantable to any Standard or Support team member
- Single, exclusive Account Owner role per account, marked with an Owner icon
- Owner-exclusive control over billing subscription changes and account closure
- Self-service restriction preventing admins from modifying the Owner's permissions or profile
- Support-mediated ownership transfer process requiring proof of business ownership
How it works
An existing admin sets another team member's Admin designation from Organization > Members > Edit Member > Permissions, selecting "Yes" for admin status. The Account Owner is identified separately on the Members page by an Owner icon, and only one person can hold this role; a member cannot self-designate as Owner. Because members can't change their own role, the Owner also cannot self-change their own designation if not otherwise marked as admin, and would need to contact Healthie support instead. To transfer ownership, for example when a business is sold or in the event of the current owner's death, the existing owner (or, in exceptional cases, supporting parties) emails Healthie support with proof of ownership, such as a business bank statement or tax documentation, and support updates the designation once verified.
Account Admins and Owners defines two related but distinct roles: Account Admin, a designation any Standard or Support team member can be given, and Account Owner, a single, exclusive role held by one person per account. An admin generally has the account's highest level of organizational permissions and can set permissions for other team members, while the Account Owner additionally controls the billing subscription, can close the account, and makes final decisions on adding or removing team members. Only the Account Owner can update their own permissions; other admins cannot modify or remove the Owner's access, and the Owner's core profile fields become read-only to other admins. Changing who holds the Account Owner role, such as after a business sale or the death of the current owner, requires emailing Healthie support with proof of ownership.
