The Challenge
Why does pediatric behavioral health need different tooling?
Half of all mental health issues emerge by age 14, yet fewer than half of U.S. children can access care — the gap Emora exists to close. Pediatrics is structurally different from adult care: a seven-year-old can’t be engaged like an adult, and the clinicians who can get kids talking have to be screened and organized differently. That distinction runs all the way into tooling. Asking a general platform to serve pediatric behavioral health the same way it serves dental, internal medicine or nutrition would compromise the end-user experience — so Emora chose a fully custom, headless build on Healthie’s API.

Building the differentiated last mile
Emora’s patients and clinicians never know that Healthie exists — they see Emora’s branded experience, running on Healthie underneath. The platform already covered most of what a practice needs out of the box; the remaining 10% — the deeply specialized pediatric workflows — is what Emora built into its own 90%.
Everything patients and clinicians actually touch, including Emora’s own automated claims pipeline, is built in-house on top of that foundation. Healthie provides the API, the infrastructure and the data access; the differentiated last mile is Emora’s.
