Fully Headless EHR

Run Healthie entirely behind the scenes, with patients and providers never seeing Healthie's own interface. Organizations build their own fully custom clinician and patient experience directly on Healthie's API, using Healthie for compliance, infrastructure, and the system of record underneath. Capabilities like Bridge and E-Prescribing can layer in on top, so nothing has to be built from scratch.

Built by Core Engineering

The problem it solves

Organizations with a highly specialized care model, like pediatric behavioral health, need a clinician and patient experience tailored precisely to that population, not a general-purpose interface built to serve every specialty at once. Building that experience entirely from scratch, including compliance, infrastructure, and a clinical data model, would slow a lean engineering team down far more than building on top of an existing system of record.

What's included

  • Full GraphQL API access covering the entire platform, with no Healthie UI ever shown to patients or clinicians
  • Healthie as the underlying system of record for patient data, scheduling, and clinical documentation
  • Compatible with Bridge for extracting clean EHR data into an organization's own analytics stack
  • Compatible with E-Prescribing and other discrete Healthie capabilities, layered in as needed rather than built from scratch
  • Backward-compatible API updates, so a fully custom build doesn't break as Healthie ships new platform features

How it works

An organization builds its own clinician- and patient-facing applications entirely on Healthie's GraphQL API, via Full API Access. Patient records, scheduling, and clinical documentation live in Healthie as the system of record, but every screen the patient or clinician sees is custom-built by the organization's own engineering team; Healthie's own interface is never shown. Organizations typically layer in specific Healthie capabilities on top of this foundation rather than building everything themselves, most commonly Bridge, to pipe clean EHR data into their own analytics stack, and E-Prescribing, to keep prescribing inside the clinical workflow. Because the API is backward-compatible and updated the same day as Healthie's own UI, a headless build keeps working as Healthie ships new platform functionality, without requiring the organization to migrate or rebuild.

Fully Headless is a deployment pattern where an organization builds its entire clinician and patient experience on top of Healthie's API, with no Healthie-branded interface, white-label skin, or native UI ever exposed to end users. It's for organizations, often digital health companies operating at scale, that need a highly specialized, purpose-built experience a shared platform's own UI can't tailor closely enough. Healthie provides the system of record for patient data, scheduling, and clinical documentation, along with the underlying compliance and infrastructure, while the organization's own engineering team owns every screen a patient or clinician touches. Most organizations still combine this with select Healthie capabilities, like Bridge for data extraction into their own analytics stack, or E-Prescribing, rather than building every workflow from scratch.
