Nutrient Tracking

Lets clients log detailed nutrient data, calories, macros, and micronutrients, for individual foods or full meals, searching a database of over 900,000 items or scanning a barcode. Clients can save custom foods and saved meals for faster future logging, and providers see full nutritional breakdowns on every entry. It's an optional layer on top of Healthie's food journaling that must be enabled per client.

The problem it solves

Providers working on nutrition-specific goals need to see more than a photo of a client's meal, they need actual calorie, macro, and micronutrient data to guide care. Manually asking clients to estimate and report this information at each session is unreliable and doesn't scale across a caseload.

What's included

  • Food database search across 900,000+ items, including branded foods, via Healthie's Edamam integration
  • Barcode scanner (mobile app) that auto-populates nutrition data for scanned products
  • Custom food creation for items not in the database, including client-created recipes
  • Save Meal, combining several food items into one reusable entry for faster future logging
  • Full macro and micronutrient breakdown visible to providers on every logged entry

How it works

A provider enables Nutrient Tracking ("Macro and micronutrient tracking") on a client's individual profile from Client Profile > Actions > Settings; this must be set per client, since global or group defaults only apply to new clients going forward. Once enabled, the client sees a Food icon on their dashboard; tapping it and then + Add Food opens Healthie's food database (Edamam), where they can search by name, scan a barcode, or select My Custom Food to add an item they've created themselves. Selecting a food lets the client adjust serving size before adding it to the entry; when a meal is made up of several items, tapping Save to Meals stores the combination for one-tap re-logging later. Tapping Save Entry logs the food journal entry, which the client can revisit to edit, and which the provider can review with full nutrient detail from the client's Journal tab.

Nutrient Tracking lets clients log calories, macronutrients, and micronutrients for individual foods or full meals, going beyond Healthie's basic photo food journal into detailed nutritional data. It's for providers who need to see specific nutrient intake, not just a food photo, and must be turned on for each client individually from their Client Profile, since enabling it only in global or group defaults won't apply to existing clients. Clients search Healthie's food database, powered by Edamam with over 900,000 items including branded foods, or scan a product barcode to auto-populate an entry. Clients can also create custom foods for items not in the database and save frequently-eaten combinations as a meal for quicker future logging.
