The problem it solves
North Carolina providers who receive state-funded reimbursement are legally required to connect to NC HealthConnex, and doing so involves a state agency's participant agreement and technical onboarding process that's separate from any single EHR vendor. This gives Healthie providers a clear path to initiate and track that connection so they can remain in compliance with the state mandate.
What's included
- Access to patient records, labs, diagnostics, medical history, and allergies recorded by other NC HealthConnex-connected providers
- A dedicated Healthie NC HealthConnex form to notify Healthie's team once a provider has signed their participant agreement
- Status tracking and queue coordination with NC HealthConnex, handled by Healthie's team
- Applicable to providers who accept Medicaid, NC Health Choice, or State Health Plan reimbursement in North Carolina
How it works
A North Carolina provider who is required to connect (typically because they accept Medicaid, NC Health Choice, or State Health Plan reimbursement) first signs a participant agreement directly with NC HealthConnex. They then complete Healthie's NC HealthConnex form to notify Healthie's team of their status, so Healthie can track their place in the technical onboarding queue and coordinate next steps. Once fully connected, the provider can access patient health information recorded by other participating providers, including records, labs, diagnostics, medical history, and allergies, directly through the HealthConnex portal.
NC HealthConnex is North Carolina's state-designated health information exchange, connecting healthcare providers across the state so they can view patient records, labs, diagnostics, and medical history recorded by other providers. It's for Healthie providers in North Carolina who are required to connect under the state's HIE mandate, typically those receiving Medicaid, NC Health Choice, or State Health Plan reimbursement. Healthie doesn't complete the connection process directly; a provider signs a participant agreement with NC HealthConnex first, then submits Healthie's NC HealthConnex form so Healthie's team can track their status and coordinate the technical onboarding queue.
