Enabling Clients to Gift Packages

Let clients purchase a one-time Client Package as a gift for someone else, who receives an email and an automatically created Healthie account to redeem it. Only packages set up with one-time (not recurring) payments can be gifted. Providers are notified whenever a package is purchased as a gift.

The problem it solves

Practices that want to let clients gift services to others have no way to do so without manually creating an account and enrolling that person themselves. This setting solves that by letting the gifting client complete the purchase directly, with Healthie automatically creating or updating the recipient's account.

What's included

  • Per-package "Allow purchasing this package as a gift" setting
  • Automatic Healthie account creation for a new gift recipient
  • Automatic profile update and package enrollment for an existing recipient
  • Email notification to the recipient with a link to their payment portal
  • Provider notification when a package is purchased as a gift

How it works

A provider enables the gifting option in a package's Pricing settings, available only for packages with one-time (non-recurring) payments. When a client purchases the package as a gift, they provide the recipient's information at checkout; if the recipient is new to Healthie, an account is created for them automatically, and if they're an existing client, their profile is updated to reflect the new package. The recipient receives an email with their package details and a "View Package Details" link into their payment portal. Providers see the new payment and package purchase in their notifications, provided the "Package Purchased" notification setting is enabled.

Enabling Clients to Gift Packages lets a client purchase a package on behalf of someone else, such as a friend or family member, rather than only for themselves. It's built for practices that want to offer package purchases as a referral or seasonal marketing angle without building a separate gifting mechanism. Only packages configured with one-time payments support gifting; recurring or multi-payment packages cannot be gifted. When a package is gifted, the recipient automatically receives a Healthie account, if they don't already have one, along with an email notifying them of their new package and a link into their payment portal.
