E-Rx: Supervising MDs
List a supervising or collaborating physician on a provider's e-prescriptions, either by connecting the supervisor's DoseSpot account so their name appears automatically on every prescription, or by manually adding their name to the pharmacy notes on prescriptions that need it. DoseSpot only supports one supervising physician per clinic, and that name can't be limited to only some prescriptions once the accounts are connected. If the supervising physician also oversees controlled substance prescribing, they must be EPCS-enabled themselves.

The problem it solves
Some states require a supervising or collaborating physician's name to appear on a provider's e-prescriptions, but that requirement doesn't apply uniformly across every prescription or every state a multi-location practice operates in. This solves that by offering two paths: full account linkage for supervisors who need to appear everywhere, or a manual per-prescription note for supervisors who only need to appear sometimes.

How it works
A practice submits a request to Healthie support to connect a supervising physician's DoseSpot account to a supervised provider's account; once linked, the supervisor's name automatically appears on every prescription that provider sends under that clinic, since DoseSpot allows only one supervising physician per clinic and the name can't be selectively shown. If a provider only needs the supervisor listed on prescriptions in states that require it, the recommended approach instead is to leave the accounts unlinked and manually add the supervising physician's name to the pharmacy notes section of each relevant prescription. If the supervised provider prescribes controlled substances under EPCS, the supervising physician must also complete EPCS enrollment.

Practices that only need the supervisor listed on certain prescriptions (since supervision requirements vary by state) instead add the supervisor's name manually to the pharmacy notes field, prescription by prescription. If the supervised provider is EPCS-enabled to prescribe controlled substances, the supervising physician must also be EPCS-enabled.
