Client Allergies, Sensitivities, and Food Preferences

Document a client's allergies, food intolerances, sensitivities, and food preferences in one place on their profile, so this information stays visible while making care recommendations or building a meal plan. Allergy data syncs two-way with DoseSpot for e-prescribing, and automatically flags a matching allergy across medication routes during charting. Add these fields to any intake or charting form to collect them directly from clients.

The problem it solves

Allergy, sensitivity, and dietary preference information is easy to lose track of when it's scattered across intake forms, chart notes, and a provider's memory, which creates both a safety risk and a nutrition-planning gap. This feature solves that by centralizing the data on the client's profile, syncing it with e-prescribing, and automatically flagging cross-route medication allergies during charting.

What's included

  • Centralized allergy, food intolerance, sensitivity, and food preference sections on the Client Info page
  • Custom allergy and reaction entry for anything not in the standard list
  • Automatic cross-route medication allergy flagging during manual charting note creation
  • Two-way allergy sync with DoseSpot for e-prescribing
  • Smart Field support to collect allergy/sensitivity/preference data directly from intake or charting forms

How it works

A provider documents a client's allergies, food intolerances, sensitivities, and preferences from Clients > [client] > Client Info, adding custom entries and reactions as needed; each category shows the date it was last modified. If a medication is added to a client's Allergies, Healthie treats the entire medication group as an allergy regardless of route, so adding a different route of that same medication within a Charting Note triggers a flag. Allergy data also syncs two-way with DoseSpot: allergies entered in Healthie appear in DoseSpot when issuing a prescription, and allergies entered in DoseSpot pull back into Healthie. To collect this data directly from clients, a provider can drag the relevant Charting-category Smart Fields (Allergy, Food Sensitivity, Food Preference) into an intake, charting, or program form; because these are Charting-category Smart Fields, entries automatically sync back to the client's profile.

Client Allergies, Sensitivities, and Food Preferences let providers document a client's allergies, food intolerances, food sensitivities, and food likes/dislikes directly on their profile, keeping this information visible for care recommendations, meal planning, and safety checks. It's built for practices, especially nutrition and multi-specialty practices, that need this information readily accessible during charting and e-prescribing. When a medication is listed as an allergy, Healthie flags any other route of that same medication (e.g., oral vs. injection) as an allergy during manual charting note creation. Allergy data syncs two-way with DoseSpot, so allergies entered in either Healthie or DoseSpot appear in both.
