Associate E-Rx Order with Chart Note
Lets providers link an E-Rx order to a chart note at the moment of prescribing. Once the prescription is submitted, its details display automatically in a Medication Orders section on that chart note, along with the timestamp of the most recent PDMP check, for organizations with EPCS permissions.

The problem it solves
Providers prescribing controlled substances through DoseSpot had no way to connect a specific prescription or PDMP check to the clinical encounter where it happened, leaving chart notes without a documented record of medications or compliance checks from that visit. This made it hard to maintain a complete, auditable trail of care for compliance and review.
What's included
- Chart note selection prompt when ordering E-Rx from the Quick Profile
- Automatic "Medication Orders" section on the linked chart note, with medication name, dosage, prescribed date, and prescriber
- PDMP check timestamp displayed automatically for EPCS-enabled providers, no separate setup required
- Display across chart note view, edit, PDF, and share surfaces
- Option to proceed without linking a chart note
How it works
From a client's Quick Profile, the provider clicks Order E-Rx, which opens a "Link medication order to chart note" prompt. The provider selects an unsigned, unlocked chart note from the dropdown, or clicks the "x" to proceed without linking one. If the E-Rx order was started while editing a chart note, that note is selected by default. After the provider completes the order in the DoseSpot window, the prescription populates automatically into a Medication Orders section on the linked chart note, visible on the note's view, edit, PDF, and share surfaces. Once the DoseSpot action is complete, the Medication Orders section itself can't be edited directly, though later actions tied to the same order (like a refill or cancellation) display in sequence. For providers with EPCS permissions, any PDMP check completed through DoseSpot's Bamboo Health integration during that same session is captured automatically, and its timestamp displays on the linked chart note alongside the Medication Orders section, with no additional configuration. PDMP checks completed by logging directly into a state portal, rather than through DoseSpot's Bamboo Health integration, won't link to a chart note or show a timestamp.
Associates an E-Rx order with a specific chart note at the moment a provider prescribes, so the medication details appear automatically wherever that note is viewed. For providers with EPCS permissions, the timestamp of the most recent PDMP check appears alongside it automatically, with no separate setup required. It's built for practices prescribing through DoseSpot that need a documented link between orders and the clinical encounter, such as Talkiatry. Providers choose the chart note from a dropdown when they click Order E-Rx from the Quick Profile, and the details populate automatically once the DoseSpot order is complete.
