Zoom for Healthcare
Gives every Healthie appointment a HIPAA-compliant Zoom video link automatically, without providers or clients needing their own Zoom account. Supports group video chats and webinars, including sessions that anyone can join via a shared link whether or not they have a Healthie account. Session recording is included, all covered under Healthie's Zoom BAA.

The problem it solves
Providers running telehealth sessions, group classes, or webinars need a HIPAA-compliant video platform, but standard consumer Zoom accounts aren't covered under a BAA and require separate logins and fees. Without a built-in option, providers either pay for and manage a second HIPAA-compliant tool themselves or risk using non-compliant video software.
What's included
- Unique, HIPAA-compliant Zoom link auto-generated for every appointment, group session, or webinar, with password auto-included for secure client admittance
- Shareable Client Link that any participant can join without a Healthie account — co-treating providers, family members, or webinar attendees — plus calendar-based self-enrollment for new registrants
- Session recording via Zoom desktop, with the option to share files with clients or add to a Program
- Default screen sharing, host camera/mic control, and dial-in phone access, plus configurable waiting rooms, breakout rooms, live captions, meeting co-host, and cloud recording
- Optional default-to-Zoom setting for all telehealth appointments, and group charting notes for couples, family, or support sessions
How it works
Zoom for Healthcare is active by default for Healthie providers — no signup, linking, or personal Zoom account required. When a provider schedules a telehealth appointment, group session, or webinar in Healthie, a unique Zoom link is generated automatically and included in the appointment details, with the link's password already applied so clients get secure admittance without an extra host-approval step. Providers can also turn on "Default All Video Call Appointments to Zoom" under Settings > Calendar > Appointments to make Zoom the default contact type for every session, including ones clients book themselves.
For webinars, group sessions, or care-team collaboration, the appointment's Client Link can be shared with anyone — a co-treating provider, a family member joining a couple's or family session, or a webinar attendee — without creating a Healthie account for them; Healthie won't track attendance or run reports on these non-client participants, and this same link can be posted to a website, social platform, or shared calendar URL so new registrants get a Healthie account automatically. Participants who can't join by video can use the dial-in details on the call to join by phone instead.
A default set of Zoom features (screen sharing, host camera/mic control) is available out of the box, with waiting rooms toggled on from Settings and other capabilities such as breakout rooms, live captions, meeting co-host, and cloud recording configurable for the account. Healthie's integration doesn't support adding panelists automatically, but a host can promote any joined participant to co-host or panelist mid-meeting, useful for webinars with a guest speaker. For sessions with multiple people in care together, providers can document the visit with a single group charting note instead of one per participant.
To record a session, the provider toggles recording on before the call; recordings save locally by default, or to the cloud if Zoom Cloud Recording is enabled, and can then be uploaded to a client's record, a Program, or shared externally. On mobile, tapping "Start Video Chat" from the calendar opens directly into the Zoom app.
Zoom for Healthcare gives providers a HIPAA-compliant video platform built directly into Healthie, generating a unique Zoom link for every appointment, group session, or webinar without requiring a personal Zoom account. It's built into Healthie's platform, and Healthie's own BAA with Zoom covers the encryption and compliance requirements. Providers create a session the same way they schedule any appointment, choosing a group or webinar appointment type to automatically generate a Zoom link, and can enable optional features like waiting rooms, screen sharing, dial-in numbers, and session recording from Settings. Clients join directly from the link in their confirmation email or Healthie Client Portal, without needing a Zoom account or a Healthie login.
