Twilio

Lets an organization connect its own Twilio account to Healthie so SMS communications to clients, like appointment reminders, send from their own phone number instead of Healthie's shared number. The same number stays available for other Twilio capabilities outside Healthie as well.

The problem it solves

Organizations that want SMS reminders and notifications to come from their own branded phone number, rather than a shared Healthie number, have no way to do that without connecting their own messaging provider. Editing reminder content and controlling the sending number both require access that Healthie's default SMS setup doesn't provide.

What's included

  • SMS sending and receiving from the organization's own Twilio phone number, in place of Healthie's default number
  • Editable SMS appointment reminder content, configured per appointment type
  • Continued use of the same number for other Twilio capabilities the organization runs independently
  • Underlying replacement of Healthie's default SMS provider with the organization's own Twilio account

How it works

Once connected via the organization's own Twilio phone number, API key, and auth token, SMS communications that Healthie would normally send, like appointment reminders, send from that number instead of Healthie's default one. The organization can edit the content of SMS appointment reminders at the appointment type level. Because the number belongs to the organization's own Twilio account, it also remains usable for any other Twilio capabilities the organization runs outside of Healthie.

Twilio integration connects an organization's own Twilio account to Healthie, so SMS communications to clients, such as appointment reminders, send and receive from a phone number the organization controls instead of Healthie's default number. It's for organizations on a web white-label that already have their own Twilio account, since Healthie's default SMS sending, via Twilio behind the scenes, covers organizations that don't need their own number. Once connected, the SMS content for appointment reminders can be edited per appointment type, and the same Twilio number remains usable for any other Twilio capabilities the organization runs outside Healthie. New local or toll-free numbers go through Twilio's own carrier verification process before they can send messages, and that verification is entirely on Twilio's side, outside Healthie's control.
