Sales Tax

Add configurable sales tax rates to Client Packages and products, automatically calculated and added to the client's charge at checkout. Set a default tax rate or configure rates by product/package, and the tax amount is broken out separately on receipts and invoices. Useful for practices selling physical products or in jurisdictions requiring tax collection on services.

The problem it solves

Manually calculating and adding sales tax to every applicable transaction is error-prone and doesn't scale, especially for practices selling products alongside services. Sales Tax solves this by automatically calculating and applying the correct tax amount at checkout, with it clearly broken out on the resulting receipt.

What's included

  • Configurable sales tax rate(s) applied to Client Packages and products
  • Automatic tax calculation added to the client's total charge at checkout
  • Separate tax line item shown on receipts and invoices
  • Support for different tax configurations across different packages or products

How it works

A provider configures a sales tax rate from their billing settings and applies it to the relevant Client Packages or products. When a client purchases a taxable item, Healthie automatically calculates the tax based on the configured rate and adds it to the total charge before processing payment. The resulting receipt and any associated invoice show the tax amount as a separate line item from the base price, so both the provider and client can see exactly what was taxed.

Sales Tax lets providers configure tax rates that are automatically calculated and added to a client's charge when they purchase a taxable Client Package or product. It's built for practices selling physical products, or operating in jurisdictions that require sales tax to be collected on certain services, without requiring manual tax calculation on every transaction. Once configured, the tax amount is automatically added to the total charged to the client and broken out as a separate line on their receipt and any associated invoice. Tax settings can be applied broadly or configured differently across packages and products depending on what's taxable in a given jurisdiction.
