IOP Group Charting
Captures per-client Attended status, Join/Leave Time, and Diagnosis directly within a group charting note — built for IOP and other group-based behavioral health programs needing client-level documentation.
Built by Core Engineering
The problem it solves
Intensive Outpatient Programs and other group-based behavioral health services need client-level attendance, timing, and diagnosis data for billing and documentation, but standard group charting produces one shared note for the whole session. Without client-level detail built into the note itself, providers and billing teams have had to reconstruct that data by hand for every group session.
What's included
- Per-client Attended checkbox within the group charting note
- Join Time and Leave Time pickers for each attending client, defaulting to the scheduled appointment time
- Per-client Diagnosis field with ICD code lookup, optional rather than required
- Role-level permission scoped to specific providers or org owners
- Manual enablement by request through Healthie support
How it works
Once enabled, the Attended, Join Time, Leave Time, and Diagnosis fields appear automatically in the Individual Client Notes section of any group charting note for that role — no template changes required. The Diagnosis field uses Healthie's standard ICD code lookup, the same one used in individual client charting, and is optional rather than required. This setting is independent of the "Require Individual Notes for Group Sessions" permission, which is enabled separately at the org level.
IOP Group Charting lets providers capture per-client Attended status, Join/Leave Time, and Diagnosis directly within a group charting note, without maintaining a separate note per client. It's built for Intensive Outpatient Programs and other group-based behavioral health and substance use programs that need client-level documentation for billing and clinical accountability. It requires the Charting module, and enablement today is manual — an admin emails Healthie support to activate this role-level permission for the providers or org owners who need it. This permission is independent of the separate setting that requires an individual note before a group note can be signed.
