FHIR API
Healthie's ONC-certified FHIR R4 API, giving Enterprise customers a standards-based way to exchange health records with other healthcare IT systems.
Built by Core Engineering
The problem it solves
Organizations that need to exchange records with other healthcare IT systems — hospitals, HIEs, or other EHRs — need a standards-based interface, not just Healthie's native GraphQL API. Without FHIR support, integrating with systems that expect HL7 FHIR resources requires building a translation layer from scratch.
What's included
- ONC-certified, HL7 FHIR R4-compliant API layer, powered by Aidbox
- Runs alongside (not instead of) Healthie's core GraphQL API
- Supports standard FHIR resources including Patient, Observation, Condition, Encounter, Practitioner, and more
- Individually scoped setup with Healthie's team, typically 4–6 weeks
- Production-only — not available in Sandbox/Staging
How it works
The FHIR API runs as an add-on layer on top of Healthie's core application, powered by Aidbox, and exposes a FHIR R4-compliant REST server. It's available as an add-on to the Enterprise Plan and requires an existing API subscription. Implementation is scoped with Healthie's team individually, typically taking four to six weeks, and the API is only available in Healthie's Production environment. Supported FHIR resources include Patient, Observation, Condition, Encounter, Procedure, Practitioner, Organization, Device, Location, RelatedPerson, AllergyIntolerance, Goal, Coverage, and MedicationStatement, among others.
The FHIR API is Healthie's ONC-certified, HL7 FHIR-compliant API layer, built on top of Aidbox and running alongside Healthie's core GraphQL API. It's built for Enterprise customers who need to exchange health records with other healthcare IT systems using the FHIR standard, rather than Healthie's native GraphQL schema. Setup and implementation typically take four to six weeks and are scoped individually with Healthie's team, since requirements vary by organization. This is a Production-only feature — it isn't available in Healthie's Sandbox/Staging environment.
