Zoom Translated Captions

Adds real-time, AI-translated captions to Zoom video sessions in Healthie, so clients can follow their care in their preferred language without an interpreter.

The problem it solves

Practices serving clients who speak a language other than English typically need to schedule a live interpreter or rely on a family member to translate, which adds cost, delay, and potential inaccuracy to every session.

What's included

  • Real-time AI-translated captions during any Zoom session hosted through Healthie
  • Support for 36 languages, including Spanish, Mandarin, Arabic, Hindi, Vietnamese, and more
  • Independent language selection per participant, so a provider and each client can each view a different language
  • "Show Original and Translated" option to display both caption languages at once
  • Works across 1:1 appointments, group sessions, and webinar
  • Translated captions are not a substitute for a qualified medical interpreter.

How it works

Once enabled, a provider joins a Zoom session as usual, opens Show Captions in the Zoom toolbar, and sets the Caption Language to match the language being spoken in the session. Each client then opens Captions on their own end and selects their preferred language from the dropdown; no setup is required on the client's side in advance. Captions only display in the Zoom desktop or mobile app, not in a web browser, so clients need the Zoom app installed to use this feature.

Zoom Translated Captions adds real-time, AI-translated captions to any Zoom session hosted through Healthie, letting each participant follow the conversation in their own preferred language. It's for practices serving clients who are more comfortable in a language other than English, and it requires Zoom to already be active on the account plus an additional per-organization add-on fee. Providers turn captions on from inside the Zoom toolbar and set the language being spoken, after which each client independently picks their own caption language from the same menu, with no setup needed in advance. Captions support 36 languages and require the Zoom app rather than a web browser to display.
