Zocdoc Referral Widget
Lets providers send patients a direct link to find and book specialist appointments on Zocdoc, without leaving the client profile. A single click delivers a pre-written referral message to the patient via their preferred communication channel -- text or in-app notification.

The problem it solves
Referring a patient to a specialist typically requires a separate communication step outside the EHR -- a phone call, a manual message, or a verbal reminder that the patient may not act on. The Zocdoc Referral Widget closes that gap by delivering a direct, actionable booking link to the patient from within the provider's existing workflow, reducing referral drop-off.
What's included
- Zocdoc Referrals widget embedded on the Client Profile
- One-click "Send link" action that delivers a pre-formatted referral message to the patient
- Automated delivery via the patient's preferred channel (text or in-app notification)
- Pre-written message copy including the provider's practice name and a Zocdoc search link
- Event logging for referral activity (zocdoc_referral_widget_viewed, zocdoc_referral_sent)
How it works
Once the widget is enabled for an organization, it appears on the Client Profile for permissioned providers. The provider opens a client's profile and locates the Zocdoc Referrals widget. Clicking "Send link" triggers Healthie to send the client a message via their preferred communication channel (text or in-app), containing the pre-formatted referral copy and a Zocdoc search link. Widget visibility is governed by the CustomSidebarOverrides permissioning model -- only providers with the appropriate organization-level permission see the widget on client profiles.
The Zocdoc Referral Widget appears on the Client Profile and allows any permissioned provider to initiate a specialist referral directly from within Healthie. When a provider clicks "Send link," Healthie delivers a pre-formatted message to the patient via text or in-app notification, containing a Zocdoc search link scoped to their location, insurance, and availability. Widget access is controlled through the organization's CustomSidebarOverrides permissioning model, so only authorized providers see and use the widget. Each referral action is logged as a trackable event for reporting purposes.
