Healthie at the Healthcare x AI Agents Hack & Learn
Explore how teams used Healthie Dev Assist to build agent-powered healthcare tools with real ROI at the Healthcare x AI Agents Hackathon. From reducing physician workload to automating billing and follow-ups, see what’s possible when AI meets an API-first EHR.
Last week, Healthie joined forces with Autoblocks AI and Healthcare AI Guy to sponsor the Healthcare x AI Agents | Hack & Learn, a 2-day event that brought together a community of engineers, clinicians, and product leaders shaping the future of healthcare with AI.
Over 36 hours, 15 teams built agent-powered tools aimed at solving healthcare’s messiest, most expensive problems. From streamlining billing to automating post-visit follow-up, the ideas were bold, practical, and grounded in real-world impact.
Healthie’s Challenge: ROI or Bust
Healthie Dev Assist — our AI-powered GraphQL co-pilot — was front and center in our challenge. We tasked teams to:
Build an agent-powered solution using Dev Assist and our GraphQL API — and prove its ROI.
Not hypotheticals. Not fluff. We asked for solutions that delivered real cost savings, time saved, or outcomes improved.
Why Dev Assist?
Dev Assist eliminates the usual development friction in healthcare projects — no API documentation rabbit holes, no endless query testing. It auto-generates real-time GraphQL queries, helping teams prototype in minutes instead of hours. By integrating directly with Healthie’s API-first infrastructure, Dev Assist let participants skip the boring setup work and focus on building something that could actually move the needle for providers and patients.
The Results:
Teams used Dev Assist to build and iterate on ROI-focused agents that:
- Automated tedious workflows like documentation, coding, and insurance claims
- Reduced patient no-shows and streamlined post-visit engagement
- Pulled actionable insights from EHR data with zero manual querying
The creativity and speed we saw were exactly why we built Dev Assist — to empower developers to create meaningful healthcare solutions without drowning in complexity.

What Got Built: A Look at the Innovation
This wasn’t your average demo day. Here's a glimpse at what the teams shipped — many using Healthie’s API-first infrastructure to power their work:
- Morning Rounds – A clinical agent that reviews patient lists and recommends next steps, saving providers 4+ hours daily. (Built with Dev Assist)
- Voice-to-EHR Agents – Dictation tools that auto-log clinical tasks, notes, and prescriptions directly into the EHR.
- Follow-Up Automation – Post-visit agents that nudge patients to complete care tasks, improving engagement and outcomes.
- Prescription & Claims Agents – Tools that handle pharmacy availability, insurance checks, and appeal submissions.
- CDI Agents – Revenue-boosting assistants that flag missed diagnoses and optimize clinical documentation for value-based care.
- Home Care Companions – Voice agents supporting elderly patients with check-ins, medication tracking, and more.
- DIY Health Apps – No-code tools enabling practices to launch HIPAA-compliant agent-powered apps, built on Healthie’s API.
Spotlight: Healthie ROI Challenge Winner
Healthie’s Dev Assist tool inspired teams to push the boundaries of AI-powered healthcare innovation with clever agent-powered solutions. Among them, one stood out – Morning Rounds, built by Team 5. The Morning Rounds agent operates 24/7, sorting through patient lists, cataloging discussions of medications and symptoms, and recommending next steps to physicians. The agent could save physicians four hours daily, delivering over $1M in annual savings.
Congratulations to the members of Team 5:
- Jesse Cheng (Cornell, CS + Stats)
- Sidra Hussain (Crossover Health, Product Manager)
- Alexander Singh (knownwell, Head of Analytics)
- Brittany Sigler (CVS Health, Lead Director, Product Strategy and Management)
- Vishvesh Trivedi (New York University, Graduate Student & ML Researcher)

Morning Rounds impressed the Healthie Team with their inventive use of Dev Assist and their clear demonstration of ROI in terms of time and money saved, earning them the top prize in this category.
Why This Matters
The future of healthcare isn’t just digital — it’s intelligent, agent-powered, and outcome-obsessed. Events like this show us that:
- API-first platforms like Healthie accelerate innovation
- Dev Assist removes barriers, letting developers focus on outcomes, not infrastructure
- ROI is the north star for real-world adoption
Healthie is proud to support this community of builders. We’ll keep investing in the tools and infrastructure that turn healthcare ideas into scalable solutions.
