Why Become a Registered Dietitian, with Dalina Soto
Meet Dalina Soto and learn why she became a registered dietitian. Find out how her RD career centers around lifting up community.

Today, we’re chatting with Dalina Soto, the RD behind Nutritiously Yours, a Philadelphia-based private practice. Dalina told us a little bit about her passion for nutrition, past experiences, and how she uses bilingualism in her practice.
Why and how did you decide to become a dietitian?
I started off as a pre-med student because I wanted to help people. Medicine was always a passion of mine. Then I took my first nutrition course and realized I could help prevent diseases through food and immediately fell in love.
Can you tell us about your nutrition career to date?
I have worked in the community setting through most of my career. I’ve focused on helping those who need help the most, primarily the Hispanic community. My overall goal is to help everyone love food again and be healthy. I want everyone to feel comfortable eating those foods they grew up with while still managing chronic disease.
Tell us all about your practice: What types of clients do you work with and how does that affect your approach to care?
Nutritiously Yours aims to help everyone, from people with chronic disease to moms trying to figure out how to feed their families. The goal is to make food fun again for everyone and to help people understand that food is life. We also aim to help the Hispanic community; I want to make sure Hispanics know I can speak Spanish and I can help!
Any advice for RDs just getting started (or thinking about) private practice?
Go for it! It’s an amazing feeling to help others on your own terms.
How do you think technology is changing the way dietitians are practicing care?
It’s just making easier to help others; preventative care is the future of healthcare in America.
Why are you excited about using Healthie?
I am so excited to be able to manage my practice in just one platform that is so user-friendly.
Dietitians are definitely the future of healthcare. It’s such an amazing time to be one, and we all need to strive to teach others how important our profession is.
